Pandé Bike: The Sexy Elizabeth
March 11, 2008

Tom Pande a Goldsmiths design Student, has just finished one of his sideline projects which I’m calling “Sexy Elizabeth”.
Im digging this, i think its a great start to the unofficial Pandé Bike range and its also a great ride. Anyway if you would like more info get in contact, unfortunately we don’t have a postal address but we are accepting comments.
You only bump into people you already know. Duh.

Today was one of those days when everything seems to be connected somehow. In fact, the last few weeks have been like that and the notion of “its a small world” has been tossed about a bit too much which led me to think about that saying a little. The world is in fact rather large. Isn’t it funny how we bump into people we already know… That should answer the question nicely. On to something completely different….. I thought I’d do this person a favour.
Work in progress update.

We’re pretty busy with our degrees at the moment but I am currently working on a widget for mac os x that randomly gives you rules/advice for your design process. It will be called Rule Book and will be free to download from here in the coming weeks.Take it easy sprouts!

Originality?

When I look at the work that we are coming up with now, I can’t help but think I’ve seen a version like it somewhere before . Could the problem be that a lot of us read the same magazines and visit the same websites? Are we being influenced by what I call “the dominant Style”? The aesthetic we can’t help but imitate because it some how creeps into our sub-conscious. Or is it just because we think its “cool” to copy?.So how do we fight “the dominant style”? And, what is this “cool”?Answer:Firstly, to avoid falling victim to “the dominant style ” you must listen unquestionably to everything Psynage has to say. We’re currently up our own arses, so yeah we basically know our shit!Secondly, I think the term “cool” no longer has a definition. It was once a description of the mavericks doing something inspiring but now I think it describes everything and nothing at the same time. In terms of design, “cool” is the now which was the “cool” of 20years ago. And by blindly following tradition we’re hopelessly laying the foundations for the “cool” of 2027.I certainly don’t know what “cool” is anymore, I gave up trying to follow what I thought it was a little while ago. Now I’m concerned with originality. However, Jean Bauldrillard claims that nothing is original. Its not an exact quote but I do think its very true but doesn’t mean I have to accept it.
Psynage has landed.

Ok, so I suppose this is our opening statement to any-one new out there, I’ll do my best to make sense.
Basically, were a couple of art students; Ryan doing Fine Art in Goldsmiths and myself doing Grafic Design round the corner in Camberwell. We had the idea of starting an Art/Design group last year whilst doing our foundation and it has changed over time and will no doubt continue to do so. The vibe at the moment is to use this moniker to collaborate on our own projects and the ones set by our courses and to generally let them loose in the world.
It would be great to have this space to just discuss in general or rant about anything we come across in daily life, be it arty or political. I’d also like to take this moment to stress that We’re pretty new to the blogging culture but I for one am embracing it with open arms; we have a lot to say and so does the rest of the world.
Let the games begin!
